Roy Linwood Clark was born on the 15th April 1933, in Meherrin, Virginia USA, and is a country musician and performer, who has released a number of studio albums and singles, including “Thank God And Greyhound”, and “Yesterday, When I Was Young”, but he is probably best known as the host of the national TV show “Hee Haw” (1969-1992). He is also recognized for being a member of the Grand Ole Opry. His career has been active since 1950.
Have you ever wondered how rich Roy Clark is, as of mid-2016? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that the total size of Roy’s net worth is currently over $1 million. The main source of this amount of money being, of course, his successful involvement in the entertainment industry.
Roy Clark Net Worth $1 Million
Roy Clark was raised in Great Kills, Staten Island, New York, and he also lived in southeast Washington, D.C. while he was in his teens, as his father worked at the Washington Navy Yard. Both of his parents were amateur musicians, so when he was 14 years old, Roy became a multi-instrumentalist, as he began playing the guitar, mandolin, and banjo. A year later, he won two National Banjo Championships. Before he decided to become a musician, he was also very active in sports as a baseball player, and boxer.
Roy is one of the most famous figures when it comes to country music, and during his career he had released over 30 studio albums, all of which have increased the overall size of his net worth. His first album came out in 1962, entitled “The Lightning Fingers of Roy Clark”, however, it failed to chart. Nevertheless, Roy continued making music, and with his fifth album, “Roy Clark Sings Lonesome Love Ballads” (1966), began his reign. The album reached No. 21 on the US Country chart, but by the end of the 1960s, he had his first album in the top 10, being “Yesterday, When I Was Young”, released in 1969.
He continued to line up success after success throughout the 1970s, releasing such albums as “I Never Picked Cotton” (1970), “Come Live with Me” (1973) – which peaked at No. 4 on the US Country chart – and “Roy Clark’s Family Album” (1973), which reached No. 2. Furthermore, he released albums such as “Classic Clark” (1974), which reached No. 13, and “Labor of Love” (1978), which only reached No. 44.
With the beginning of the 1980s, his popularity began to drop; he released several albums, but all but “Turned Loose” (1982), failed to chart, and this one reached No. 44. Roy`s last album came out in 1995, entitled “My Favorite Hymns”.
He has also released several instrumental albums, including “Urban, Suburban” (1968), “A Pair of Fives (Banjos, That Is)” (1975), and “Banjo Bandits” (1978), which also increased his net worth.
Roy has also been recognized as a television personality, serving as a host of the show “Hee Haw” from 1969 until 1992, and for his appearances as himself in several TV series and films, which have also added to his net worth. Roy has also shown his acting skills in several films and TV series, including “The Beverly Hillbillies” (1968-1969), “Uphill All the Way” (1986), “Gordy” (1995), and “Palo Pinto Gold” (2009), among others, all of which have added to his net worth.
Thanks to his skills, Roy has received numerous prestigious awards and recognitions, including induction into the Grand Ole Opry in 1987, and also into the The Country Music Hall of Fame in 2009, among others. Speaking about his personal life, Roy Clarkhas been married to Barbara Joyce Rupard since 1957. They are the parents of four children.
