And then I did a, after kind of chilled out, I wanted to do a solo record.
So I needed a drummer, so me and Tom... That's when Tommy came into my life.
And then from there, a mutual friend of ours.
I needed a bass player for the live shows.
And then that's how Matthew came in.
And then it just kind of gelled really well.
And then from there, here we are 10 years later.
- Well, I think we all listen to all kinds of music.
Matt likes a lot of the jam band.
Dustin likes classic, more classic rock.
And I'm a mixture of both a little bit and just put it all together.
- Yeah, I always say my influences are, is every drummer I've ever played with.
(laughs) All right?
I take just a little something from that drummer rhythmically.
And even the guitar players.
People talk about my favorite bass players.
Of course, I love Jaco and Stanley Clarke and all those guys, but really it's all the rhythm players I've played with.
- And for me, to have a bass player that cares about locking up with the drummers (laughs) means the world to me.
And I think that says a lot about the rhythm section that I have.
And yeah, I'm influenced by these guys as much as I am anything else.
I find it limiting in a good way.
We can definitely add more members if we wanted to.
You know what I mean?
I think we're at a place in our career where we could certainly have a few other people come out with us if we ask them.

A lot of our legwork happens in pre-pro.
We like to hit the studio very prepared, and we like to lay down the basic tracks live.
So we kind of get that energy, 'cause that's a lot of our vibe and our energy comes from.
So to do the whole, record the drums first, then add the bass thing, now we... And we play so much together we kind of know what we're gonna do.
So I like to...
I don't think there's ever been a... Maybe a few tunes but odd ones, but we've always recorded rhythm tracks live at least.
And then go do the dopes.
- I keep pushing to road test stuff, because again, after we've played them for two, three, four, six months, it's like, oh, man, like I wrote this part and then this, we got this.
It just sort of naturally marinates and progresses.
Whereas, like he said, we usually, but at the same time, it's a very, we're a very deadline-driven band, too.
So when we set a record to release, or a goal to release a record by a certain date, we go, we push, we push, and it's a great product.
But like Dustin said, we're prepared, but it's usually, it came together within the, what, the prior month usually?
