George Alan Sparhawk is a founding member of the slow-core pioneers, Low (1993-present). Alan sings and plays the guitar. Alan was born in Duluth, Minnesota. Alan Sparhawk is married to fellow band member Mimi Parker. His side projects include the blues-roots band The Black Eyed Snakes and, more recently, the Retribution Gospel Choir. Alan Sparhawk also appeared on the compilation Songs for the End of the World as Hollis M. Sparhawk & Her Father. Aside from that, Alan Sparhawk occasionally performs solo shows in his hometown and had a solo album titled “Solo Guitar” released in August 2006.
In 2010, Alan Sparhawk collaborated on several projects such as The Murder of Crows with fellow Duluth resident Gaelynn Lea (violin, vocals, songwriting) and Alan Sparhawk (vocals, songwriting, guitar, technology).
