Turpin was a student at Neville High School in Monroe, Louisiana, and was part of the school’s football team. During his senior year, he caught the attention of many college scouts and recruiting agencies with his brilliant performances and impressive numbers.
He recorded 904 running yards, 724 receiving yards, and 29 touchdowns and was named the All-State, All-NELA Big School, and All-NELA Offensive Player of the Year.
Coming out of high school he was the No. 12 prospect in all of Louisiana and a three-star recruit. Turpin chose to pursue his college football career at Texas Christian University in January 2015, rejecting another scholarship offer from Texas Tech.
